• How are bikes tracked? |
-All bikes have a Serial Number, usually stamped on 1) the outside of the bottom bracket, sometimes found 2) on the head tube or perhaps 3) on the chain stay. Another important item is "frame size"; that being the distance (in cm or inches) from the seat clamp down to the center of the crank. Also used in multi-parameter searches is frame material, manufacturer, and wheel size in conjunction w/ geographical location.

• Why purchase and apply the Decal Kit? |
- Use of identification decals is paramount to providing long term identification. Should your bike be lost then sold to the local pawn shop or even thru an e-commerce site to someone in another country you will have a good chance of someone finding a decal and locating your contact info on the Hot Sheet. The Decal Kits from BikeRegistry are well engineered for durability and their specific application. The clear decals are UV resistant and come with permanent adhesive backing. The two companion decals are light reflective and are made of destructible vinyl (VERY difficult to remove). Decal Kits are assembled and distributed by Goodwill Industries, an organization providing employment for the physically and mentally challenged. |

• I just purchased a bike online, found a BikeRegistry decal then located the bike on the Hot Sheet. What to do? |
-Three (3) thoughts. Firstly the law varies from country to country, but generally the crime of receiving stolen property occurs when a person buys or possesses property that has been stolen through theft, fraud, deceit, embezzlement, or taken by any other unlawful means by someone else. The receiver of stolen property could be convicted if he/she knew the goods were stolen at the time of receipt and was intending to aid the thief. If you are in possession of a possibly stolen bike please contact the rightful owner and/or law enforcement; or obtain professional legal advice. Secondly, removing identification info (such as BikeRegistry decals) constitutes a distinct and additional criminal offense in many localities. Thirdly, there is a one universal truth among cyclists, only a hypocrite rides a stolen bike. Riding a stolen bike results in some seriously bad karma. |

• How is the Decal Kit applied? |
- A Decal Kit is composed of 3 decals. The larger transparent decal should be placed in clear view, say on the seat tube, down tube or head tube.
Two (2) smaller reflective decals are provided: one for placement on the lower bottom bracket (by the Serial Numbers) and the other for placement inside the chain stays or front forks where they can be seen but difficult to remove. They are designed to be UV resistant, waterproof and VERY difficult to remove. The smaller decals are made of destructible, reflective vinyl and feature a permanent adhesive which "sets up" 48 hours after their application.
FULL instructions are provided with the Kit. Including information on protecting your wheels and accessories. |

• What if I sell my bike? |
-Simply "delete" it from your BikeRegistry account. The new owner can then open an account and register it under his/her own name. |
|
• I found a bike, with a BikeRegistry decal. But could not locate an entry in the Hot Sheet pertaining to it. How can I verify the status of this bike? |
-It could have gone missing very recently, perhaps the owner is away and does not even know it is missing. Please email the particulars to admin@BikeRegistry.com , we will review the database and revert to you and/or the most recent owner of record. |
